The Blackwing Volume 458 set pays tribute to birdwatching and the way it encourages us to slow down and pay closer attention to the world around us. Each pencil features a gradient finish inspired by one of four North American birds: Clark’s Grebe, Mallard, Green Jay, and Black Rail.

The number 458 refers to the estimated number of migratory bird species that regularly travel through the United States and Canada. The set includes 12 pencils, with three of each of the four designs, and balanced graphite for a smooth, versatile line that works equally well for writing, drawing, and sketching.
